Premier League holders Liverpool are reportedly keen to re-sign Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez. Suarez was a Liverpool player for almost three years before he left the Merseyside club to join Barcelona in La Liga in a deal reported to be around £75m. Luis Suarez was signed by Liverpool from Ajax Amsterdam as one of the replacements for Fernando Torres who left to sign for Chelsea in a controversial transfer. Torres was one of the best strikers in world football at the time of his transfer from Liverpool to Chelsea for a transfer fee of £50m.
RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann was very blunt in his assessment of the Champions League match between his team and Liverpool. Julian Nagelsmann and his RB Leipzig players have played Premier League outfit Liverpool over the two legs but the outcome didn't favour him. At the end of the two legs between Liverpool and RB Leipzig, Liverpool were able to seal a place in the final eight of the competition easily and this was confirmed by Nagelsmann. Nagelsmann spoke to reporters about the second leg game between his team and Liverpool. According to him, RB Leipzig deserve to suffer elimination at the round of 16 stage at the hands of Liverpool after the two legs. The outgoing Premier League champions thrashed RB Leipzig 4-0 on aggregate over the two legs played at a neutral venue in the city of Budapest though it must be pointed out that the teams still retained the home and away format.
Liverpool fans are hoping for good news on the injury to club skipper Jordan Henderson after it was revealed that the player could need surgery on the groin injury picked up during the Merseyside Derby with Everton at the weekend. According to The Sun, Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson will find out later today if he has to undergo surgery to solve the groin issue. He picked up the injury during the first half of the Premier League clash with the Toffees on Saturday. The injury to Jordan Henderson compounded the woes of English champions Liverpool after they were beaten by their rivals at home for the first time in over two decades. Everton won the game 2-0 with goals either side of the half from Richarlison and substitute Gylfi Sigurdsson. The second goal from Sigurdsson was a late penalty after Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was adjudged to have brought down Everton substitute Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the box.
Liverpool have had a difficult 2020-21 campaign as the defending champions have been unable to make a significant impact owing to plenty of injury problems. Even though other Premier League managers have not bought into the complaints made by Jurgen Klopp about the lengthy injury list, there are some key players missing from action for the Reds.
