Landon Donovan has played a major role in American owners taking charge of Swansea City.

The former Everton player knows a thing or two about the division after having been at Everton in two loan spells. He has also played for the likes of Bayern Munich and LA Galaxy, and Donovan is easily the most celebrated American soccer player.

The MLS star said the retirement is from professional football and that it is with immediate effect. This is not the first time he is retiring. He did two years ago but then he came out of it to help his struggling former club Los Angeles Galaxy in the Major League Soccer.
