Liverpool manager JurgenKlopp will be without seven players for the visit of West London side Brentford in the Premier League. Three of the absentees for the game are at the ongoing AFCON tournament while the remaining four players are injured.
Two of the famedLiverpool front trio namely Mohamed Salah and Sadio Maneare at the African tournament being hosted in Cameroon. The third part of that front trio is Brazilian international Roberto Firmino who's expected to start the Brentford game in attack. In addition to Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool are also without midfielder Naby Keita who's also at the AFCON tournament across five cities in Cameroon.
The four injured players at Liverpool ahead of the home game with the Bees are English centre back Nathaniel Phillip, Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara, Belgian striker DivockOrigi and young English attacker Harvey Elliot.
Teenage sensation Elliott returned to Liverpool from his impressive loan spell at Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship to bag a regular place in the starting XI until he suffered a serious ankle injury at Leeds United. The injury to him overshadowed the 3-0 away win recorded by Liverpool at the expense of their hosts. On Elliot, Liverpool boss Klopp told reporters earlier in the week that it looks promising for the player in his quest to return to full fitness and that he has started running on the pitch. The young Liverpool star is on course to make a return to the pitch before the end of next month.
Origi is another injured player at Liverpool. The Belgian international has been out of action since last month. In his latest press conference on Friday ahead of the Brentford game this weekend, Klopp said that Origi has started running on the pitch and he will soon return to action from the knee injury that has plagued him for several weeks.
