NAGELSMANN ACCEPTS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE EXIT

25 Mar 2021

RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann was very blunt in his assessment of the Champions League match between his team and Liverpool. Julian Nagelsmann and his RB Leipzig players have played Premier League outfit Liverpool over the two legs but the outcome didn't favour him. At the end of the two legs between Liverpool and RB Leipzig, Liverpool were able to seal a place in the final eight of the competition easily and this was confirmed by Nagelsmann. Nagelsmann spoke to reporters about the second leg game between his team and Liverpool. According to him, RB Leipzig deserve to suffer elimination at the round of 16 stage at the hands of Liverpool after the two legs. The outgoing Premier League champions thrashed RB Leipzig 4-0 on aggregate over the two legs played at a neutral venue in the city of Budapest though it must be pointed out that the teams still retained the home and away format.

Nagelsmann and his RB Leipzig players were on the end of a 2-0 home loss to Liverpool in the first leg played last month with goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. The two African stars were on target again as Liverpool beat RB Leipzig 2-0 at home in the second leg to seal a 4-0 aggregate victory over the German Bundesliga title contenders. Liverpool are through to the last eight as a result of that aggregate win and they have joined others like Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and FC Porto in the last eight of the competition. Borussia Dortmund saw off Sevilla in the last 16, while PSG got the better of Barcelona at the same stage. FC Porto needed the away goal rule to seal a place in the quarterfinals ahead of Juventus.
