Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for out-of-favour Real Madrid star Eden Hazard. It was revealed by El Nacional that the Reds want to sign the Belgian international, but his astronomical wage demands could be a stumbling block to the move.

The aforementioned media outlet disclosed that Liverpool want to seal a Premier League return for Hazard who has had a career to forget at Real Madrid. The Belgian national team skipper has not lived up to his status as one of the best players in his time at Real Madrid. Hazard is in his third season at Real Madrid and he's yet to set the world alight due to injuries and fitness issues.

Real Madrid paid a club-record fee of around €100m to sign Hazard from Chelsea two years ago. Hazard has been one of the worst signings at Real Madrid in recent years due to his ineffectiveness on the pitch. He had been restricted to 53 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and assisting nine goals in those games.

Liverpool are keen to take Hazard from Real Madrid during the January transfer window as they look for options in the wide forwardto cover for the potential absence of both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Mane and Salah are scheduled to miss some few weeks at the start of meet year due to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Reds have been linked with a lot of wide forwards in and around the Premier League. Some of the Liverpool targets in the wide positions include Leicester City star Harvey Barnes, young Fulham attacker Fabio Carvalho and Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio.

Hazard was one of the best players in world football when he was at the peak, but he has struggled to hit that height in his time at Real Madrid.
