But, the manager of the team, Kevin Muscat, was not in a joyful mood post the game.Muscat was of the view that his boys should have shown ruthlessness after getting 2-0 up in the game pretty early, but, they could not quite do so and allowed the opposition to make its way back.

Adelaide put a bit of life in the match in the latter stages as they managed to pull one back converting a penalty to make it 2-1, but, Melbourne saw off the remaining time safely thereafter and secured full points.

Interacting with the reporters in the press conference, Muscat said, “We let it get close at the end. In racing odds terms it was a photo-finish almost! It should have been a much more comfortable win. We had plenty of chances to extend our lead which we failed to take. I’m not too pleased with that to be honest.”

“The boys also have the same feeling. There’s disappointment in the group. You are ahead by 2 goals in first 30 minutes of the game and you are supposed to be ruthless after that. You have got to take the opposition on.”

“Another goal there in first half and a lead of 3-0, it would have demoralized them completely.”

Victory has lost just one game in the A-League, which was against the Newcastle Jets, in the ongoing season. They have, in total, played 7 games and they have got 16 points to their name.

Their next game is to take place against Wellington Phoenix Football Club at the North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.
